FAMBRAS and the World Council Promote Islamic Dialogue and Announce New Books in Portuguese
The Federation of Muslim Associations of Brazil FAMBRAS, in partnership with The World Muslim Communities Council, is holding the International Islamic Seminar “Islamic Dialogues between Cultures: Brazil, Latin America, and the Arab World.” Spanning three days, the event is already underway and can be followed on FAMBRAS’s official YouTube channel.
The seminar brings together religious leaders, academics, and experts to foster intercultural and interfaith dialogue, reinforcing the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding in an increasingly plural world.
The World Council of Muslim Communities is an international organization that represents and supports Muslim communities in various countries, promoting cooperation, interfaith dialogue, and social integration. Its mission is to strengthen Muslim identity, encourage peaceful coexistence, and contribute to solutions that address the needs of communities in the global context.
During the program, a groundbreaking initiative was announced: the forthcoming publication of special Portuguese-language editions of two landmark works of contemporary Islamic thought, to be distributed free of charge to interested readers.
- Coexistence with Diversity and Differences – authored by Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi, President of the Global Council of Muslim Communities and former President of the United Arab Emirates University. Renowned for his work in promoting interfaith dialogue and tolerance policies, Dr. Al-Nuaimi presents in this book a modern vision of coexistence inspired by the model of the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the role of dialogue and plurality as pillars of peace and development.
- Tolerance – An Introduction to Building a Human Civilizational Model – written by Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of the World Council of Muslim Communities and a distinguished scholar with a long career in Islamic studies and human rights. In this work, he offers a profound philosophical, religious, and historical reflection on tolerance as an essential value for building an ethical and harmonious society.
These works, which will soon be available in Portuguese thanks to FAMBRAS, underscore the urgent need to cultivate a culture of peace, respect, and cooperation. This initiative broadens access to universal messages that connect different cultures and traditions, strengthening bridges between the Arab-Islamic world, Latin America, and Brazil.
