FAMBRAS Participates in the Celebration of Egypt’s National Day and the July 23 Revolution
The Federation of Muslim Associations of Brazil (FAMBRAS) participated, on Thursday (July 17), in the celebration of Egypt’s National Day and the July 23 Revolution, a date marking the movement that led to the proclamation of the Republic of Egypt in 1952. The institution was represented by its Director of Operations, Bassim Zoghbi.
Held at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Brasília, the event was hosted by Her Excellency Egypt’s Ambassador to Brazil, Mai Taha Khalil, and brought together political, diplomatic, and business authorities, as well as representatives of various institutions. Among those present was Sheikh Mohammed Mansour, Head of the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf Mission.
Her Excellency Mai Taha Khalil welcomed the guests and took the opportunity to express her appreciation for the period during which she represented her country in Brazil, as she is scheduled to conclude her diplomatic mission at the end of August. The Ambassador emphasized that Brazil and Egypt have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 102 years, built on a strategic partnership based on high-level political dialogue, stronger economic relations, South-South cooperation, and the defense of multilateralism.
According to the Ambassador, recent years have marked a new phase in bilateral relations, driven by the official visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Egypt in February 2024. On that occasion, the two countries officially elevated their relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership, with the signing of important cooperation agreements.
FAMBRAS’s participation reaffirms its commitment to strengthening institutional and diplomatic relations between Brazil and Egypt, contributing to dialogue, cooperation, and closer ties between the two countries.
